JDRF has led the search for a cure for T1D since our founding in 1970. In those days, people commonly called the disease “juvenile diabetes” because it was frequently diagnosed in, and strongly associated with, young children. Our organization began as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Later, to emphasize exactly how we planned to end the disease, we added a word and became the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.Today, we know an equal number of children and adults are diagnosed every day—approximately 110 people per day. Thanks to better therapies—which JDRF funding has been instrumental in developing and making available—people with T1D live longer and stay healthier while they await the cure. So a few years ago, we changed our name to JDRF: Juvenile Diabetes Reseach Foundation. Video Credits can be found here http://broadcaster.beazil.net/public/credits/youtube/videos/74236 The Health Care and Social Assistance sector comprises establishments providing health care and social assistance for individuals. The industries in this sector include physician's offices, hospitals, medical laboratories, nursing homes, and youth and family service centers. Hattiesburg has a lot to offer in terms of arts, culture, and entertainment. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is the leading global organization funding T1D research. Millions of people around the world live with type 1 diabetes (T1D), a life-threatening autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults. There is no way to prevent it, and at present, no cure. JDRF works every day to change this by amassing grassroots support, deep scientific knowledge and strong industry and academic partnerships to fund research. The JDRF identity was created with these key considerations in mind. We have dropped the formal name “Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation” from our identity and will be known simply as JDRF. This better reflects our commitment to work for ALL those with T1D. We are JDRF - Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. We won’t stop until we create a world without T1D (type one diabetes). We are committed to eradicating type 1 diabetes and its effects for everyone with type 1, and at risk of developing it. T1D treatment options are improving all the time. We are driving research to improve the technology people with T1D use to monitor blood sugar levels and research that will ultimately deliver a cure. Diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes a person's blood sugar (glucose) level to become too high. The hormone insulin – is responsible for controlling the amount of glucose in the blood. Carling Nolan, a professional golf player has T1D. She shares her life story and T1D experience. Her disease didn’t prevent her from become a professional sport-player. Her life isn’t easy but she struggles every day and JDRF has her back. Carling dreams to become like her father and her dreams came true. Even though people told her that having diabetes would make that an impossible thing. Nolan has just picked the sport that was slower passed, packed her golf bag full of juice boxes and hit the course. Carling instantly fell in love with this sport and diabetes never slowed her down. Diabetes doesn’t stop her, she is a professional golfer for 4 years now.
